If you are looking for a safe and effective treatment to soften wrinkles and rejuvenate your face, BOTOX is for you.
With more than 6 million BOTOX treatments administered each year, BOTOX has become the most popular, non-surgical cosmetic treatment to safely and impressively reduce fine lines and wrinkles.
BOTOX works by temporarily relaxing specific muscles, smoothing skin and allowing you to receive a fresh, rejuvenated appearance.
BOTOX is a purified protein derived from the largely inactive and non-toxic Clostridium botulinum organism found in the natural environment. It was first used in the 1980’s to treat ocular disorders.
Shortly thereafter, cosmetic benefits were discovered leading to its FDA approval for cosmetic use in 2002. Since then, BOTOX has not only gained fast popularity on the cosmetic scene, but medicinally as well.
Botox is known to treat excessive sweating, migraines, muscular disorders, and even bladder and bowel disorders, BOTOX has proven to be not only safe, but extremely effective and widely used for a variety of applications.
To ensure safety, we purchase BOTOX directly from Allergan, the only FDA approved source in the US.
Botox Cosmetic Treated Areas
BOTOX Cosmetic treats different areas of the face, primarily the glabellar lines, crow’s feet, horizontal forehead creases and can be used to provide a non-surgical eyebrow lift.
Often times, the glabellar line between our brows grows deep, causing us to look angry or worried. By relaxing this muscle, patients not only receive relaxation and softening of the furrow, it also prevents the glabellar line from becoming more noticeable. This will appear to soften your expression by relaxing the muscles that may you look worried or upset.
Crow’s feet, also known as periorbital wrinkles, are caused by years of squinting and smiling. A small amount of BOTOX applied here can reduce movement, creating a smoother appearance, drawing attention to your softened eyes.
Heavy brows not only weigh on the facial appearance, but often times, they cause deeper wrinkles in the forehead by a lifetime of using the frontalis muscles to lift the eyebrows. These creases are ideally treated by BOTOX by relaxing the muscles that contract when the eyebrows are raised.
BOTOX can also provide a non-surgical brow lift, giving brows a beautiful arch, providing your brows with notable definition and shape that opens and brightens your eyes.
Who Is A Candidate for Botox?
Are you tired of focusing on your heavy 11’s when you furrow your brow? Do you feel like your crow’s feet are becoming increasingly deep while your eyebrows are growing heavier? If so, Botox could be for you.
Candidates for BOTOX are those who wish to soften lines and wrinkles caused by repeated muscle movement on the face.
A good way to gauge areas that can be addressed and your individual need, would be to look in the mirror and smile, raise the brow, and contract your eyebrows toward one another. If these movements increase the appearance of wrinkles that bother you, then you are a candidate for Botox.
Candidates must be 18 years or older and not pregnant or breastfeeding. Those who have had a previous rare, allergic reaction to the drug or its ingredients should not receive BOTOX.
How Botox Works
BOTOX is administered by injecting a small amount of the botulinum-saline solution into the targeted facial muscle, blocking impulses from the nerve to the muscle which relaxes the muscle so it no longer contracts.
As a result of the tension in the muscle relaxing, wrinkles begin to release allowing smoother, unwrinkled skin to transform your face.
What Can I Expect At My Appointment
After an initial evaluation and consultation with Dr. Earl, the procedure typically takes less than 15 minutes. With no downtime, you can return to work immediately without anyone knowing you have had it done.
The areas you would like to treat and the movement you will experience is completely up to you. You are in full control of your treatment plan.
How Quickly Will I See Results
Results of Botox typically take 24-72 hours to take effect. However, it may take first time users up to five days for BOTOX to kick in. The full effect of BOTOX, however, is often realized around the two-week mark after the muscles have been fully relaxed.
How Long Does Botox Last
The effects of BOTOX last on average between 3-4 months, depending on the patient. Studies have shown metabolism rates can affect the duration of BOTOX, so we advise our patients to have the first three treatments precisely at 12 weeks and the following two treatments precisely at 16 weeks.
As muscle activation gradually returns, lines and wrinkles begin to reappear, but often, appear less severe over time. Typically, patients who follow this treatment schedule begin to need less BOTOX as they increase the time between treatments.
Botox Side Effects
While BOTOX is generally well-tolerated, there are mild side effects associated such as:
- muscle weakness near the injection site
- mild bruising, bleeding, pain, redness or swelling where the injection was given
- headache, muscle stiffness or back pain
- flu-like symptoms such as fever, cough, sore throat and runny nose
- dizziness, drowsiness, feeling tired
BOTOX works most effectively in addressing dynamic wrinkles that are caused by specific facial movements. Deep lines associated with sun damage or aging are more commonly treated with dermal fillers that focus on deep folds or add volume to the area.
Another common treatment used in conjunction with BOTOX is the Vampire Facial. The Vampire Facial uses micro needling followed by platelet rich plasma therapy (PRP) to restore a balanced skin tone and texture to the skin.
Often, a combination of treatments produces the most pleasing of outcomes that leaves your face with a rested, relaxed, restored appearance.
With Botox, you can say goodbye to looking concerned or upset. No longer will you have face the mirror looking exhausted or see crow’s feet that make us look older than we are.
